Battlefield 6 could be “heavily influenced” by Battlefield 3, according to industry insider Tom Henderson.
In a recent YouTube video (via altchar), Henderson summarizes all the details they claim to know so far about the upcoming Battlefield game. Speculating that it will be called either Battlefield 6 or just Battlefield, Henderson says the upcoming title is “heavily influenced by Battlefield 3” and will be “a bit of a soft restart”.

As shown in the video, Henderson has made the same statement in the past on Twitter, alleging that Battlefield 6 will return to its modern setting on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as on PS4 and Xbox One. While the suggestion is made that it will be a smooth restart, Henderson responds to rumors circling a full Battlefield 3 remaster, saying there is no “hard evidence” to suggest it’s true. .
Previously, the industry insider also said that Battlefield 6 will include 128 player cards. Going into more detail on this side of the game, Henderson says the maps were “designed with around 128 players in mind,” but adds that this doesn’t necessarily mean 128 players will be playing in each game mode. instead, I was told that there would be standard 32 v 32 modes, ”says Henderson. “However, for players who want to fight a lot more players, then they should expect higher player modes to come into the game.”
EA has been relatively calm on the Battlefield front so far. The only confirmed information we have on the next entry in the shooters franchise is that it will be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X with a 2021 launch window. Henderson believes there are still 9-10 months to go until release and claims to have been informed that it will also arrive on PS4 and Xbox One. The last-gen version will reportedly only feature 32 v 32 modes, with “some graphics downgrades and limited destruction”.
Of course, it’s always best to take insider information with a pinch of salt, and Henderson even says everything that is mentioned in the video is subject to change, but it certainly presents some interesting insights into the possible direction of the next Battlefield title.
