‘Batwoman’ sets Wallis day as new, Kate Kane changed in Big Reveal – Deadline

Sunday night, Batwoman answered the lingering question “What happened to Kate Kane?” Since Javicia Leslie donned the cape and hood as Batwoman (aka Ryan Wilder), Kate’s whereabouts have remained unchanged, but the mystery has been resolved tonight as Wallis Day steps into the role that once was played by Ruby Rose.

Make no mistake – Leslie will continue to be Batwoman. In fact, the reintroduction of Kate Kane further strengthens Leslie’s place as the one and only Batwoman – and we have to reiterate that she is the first black actress to take on the role of the iconic superhero.

The second half of the season will reveal where Kate has been and what that means for her character in the future. At the end of tonight’s episode, audiences find out that Kate Kane is alive but unrecognizable due to the injuries she sustained in the crash. She is bandaged and held hostage. That said, Day will be playing a modified version of Kate.

British-born actress Wallis Day is no stranger to the comic book world as she starred in Krypton. His other TV credits include Jekyll and Hyde, Casanova, and The Royals. Day recently closed the feature film Infinite directed by Antoine Fuqua where she plays alongside Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Day taken over by Hamilton and UTA.
