Bautista beats Rea for second consecutive win

The 10-lap sprint followed the same grid as Race 1, putting Rea and Leon Haslam of the Kawasaki pair ahead of Ducati's Bautista in the front row.

Rea moved away from pole position, but Haslam bogged down and was overtaken by both Bautista and Yamaha, Alex Lowes, who finished fourth.

Lowes eventually managed to get rid of Bautista later in the round, but the Spaniard used the straight-line advantage of the new Panigale V4 R to return to second place.

Bautista again used the grunt of his Ducati to pass Rea in Turn 1 and take the lead, although unlike Lowes, the Kawasaki rider was able to defend himself and take the cornering position.

In the next two rounds, Bautista again tried to exploit Ducati's speed in the return leg in his fight against Rea, but he was able to slow down at every opportunity and maintain the status quo.

Bautista instead plunged into Rea inside Turn 2 on the sixth lap and that decision would finally decide the race in his favor.

From there, Bautista maintained his lead over the Rea and slowly began to reduce the gap on the penultimate lap before winning the race more than a second.

Haslam finished third at five seconds, while Lowes fell after his heroic debut and barely kept his Yamaha teammate, Michael van der Mark, in fourth.

Marco Melandri and Sandro Cortese, the two GRT Yamaha team-mates, also took part in a late race. The Italian decided to fly in the last lap to grab sixth place from the Supersport world champion.

Michael Ruben Rinaldi finished eighth in the Barni Ducati, ahead of Eugene Laverty (GoEleven Ducati), while Ducati factory rider Chaz Davies finished 10th for the second consecutive race, starting in 16th place .

Leon Camier and Ryuichi Kiyonari were ranked 13th and 14th for the new Honda team.

Leandro Mercado, Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jordi Torres were involved in an accident of three motorcycles in the last lap.

According to the new WSBK format, the results of the superpole race will partly decide the grid for the last race of the weekend.

The first nine of this race will form the first three rows with the rest of the grid starting from 10th place, determined by Saturday's regular qualifying session.
