A shirtless rioter wearing a horned bearskin headdress who stormed the Capitol in a mob attack last week previously served in the Navy but was kicked after refusing to be vaccinated, according to the media.
Jacob Anthony Angeli Chansley, 33, a supporter of the unfounded QAnon conspiracy theory, was arrested on Saturday and charged in federal court for his alleged role in the January 6 attack. Photos of Chansley have gone viral, showing him wearing horns and his face covered in a starry pattern.
A Navy official told Task & Purpose, an online publication aimed at the military community, that Chansley was kicked out of service because of his refusal to be vaccinated against anthrax.
He served in the Navy as a Supply Clerk Seaman’s Apprentice from September 2005 to October 2007, according to Navy records provided to Fox News. He was posted to the USS Kitty Hawk before being transferred to a transitional personnel unit in Puget Sound, Wash.
The Navy declined to disclose the type of discharge Chansley received, citing privacy concerns.
He isn’t the only military veteran to have made headlines in connection with the Capitol Riot by pro-Trump protesters angry over unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud. The military is investigating a special ops officer about him, leading a group to a pro-Trump rally that preceded the attack.
