Early morning shoppers at a California grocery store were joined by a stray bear on Saturday.
Footage showed the animal strolling through a Ralph’s supermarket in the Porter Ranch neighborhood of Los Angeles before finally walking away empty-handed through the store’s front doors.
“I thought the video was amazing,” Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council’s David Balen told CBS Los Angeles. “I’m glad no one had contact with the bear. Everything can happen.”
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has been informed of several sightings of the adult bear. The agency eventually found the 120-pound animal behind a nearby Walmart, where it was hiding under a trailer.
After tranquilizing the bear, the agency transported him to Angeles National Forest for release, a CDFW officer told CBS.
Actress Tisha Campbell said she was at Ralph’s at the same time as the furry visitor and posted a video of the surprising encounter online:
Another person, Maria Campbell, said she helped chase the bear out of the store after seeing it rush inside.
“I haven’t even had coffee yet,” she wrote.
