Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery will be short on time.
The Iowa product suffered a sprained knee Sunday afternoon in a game against the Detroit Lions and he will be out for at least 4 weeks, ESPN reported Tuesday.

The NFL Network reported that Montgomery could return around Chicago Week 10.
Before leaving Sunday’s game, Montgomery racked up 106 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns in the Bears’ 24-14 win over rivals NFC North.

Montgomery, 24, has been one of the best players in an attack that has struggled so far this season. He has 309 rushing yards, including two 100-yard outs and three touchdowns.

With Montgomery out, the Bears will count on Damien Williams and Khalil Herbert to carry the load. Williams amassed 55 rushing yards on eight carries in the victory over the Lions. Next, the Bears will travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders.
