One of the best defensive players in Chicago Bears history is running to be their defensive coordinator.
Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary has been interviewed for the role of defensive coordinator for the Bears, according to TheAthletic.com.
The Bears need a new defensive coordinator after Chuck Pagano retires, but Singletary is a surprising name to see on the surface. The 62-year-old Singletary has never been an NFL defensive coordinator and has not been on the NFL staff since working for the Rams in 2016.
He was the head coach of the Alliance of American Football Memphis Express in 2019. He was the head coach of the 49ers in 2009 and 2010 and had served as linebackers and assistant head coach before that.
