There’s a lot to like about Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields. His natural arm talent, his precision, his tenacity, his leadership, whatever you want. But it is also his mobility that has already made him a threat to the defenses.
In the Bears’ 20-13 win over the Dolphins, Fields had five carries for 33 yards and a touchdown. But there was one round in particular where Fields was able to show that 4.4 speed.
According to Next Gen Stats, Fields scored 20.39 MPH on his 21-yard third quarter run against Miami. This ranked as the 12th fastest speed by a quarterback since the start of last season.

21-yard scamper by Justin Fields. He’s super fast when he lets go. Best race of the day. #Bear pic.twitter.com/UQIGTPJqxr

While Fields can do a lot of things with his legs, his immediate instinct isn’t just to take off and run. He showed it against the Dolphins, where on 3rd and 9th he made the defense believe he was going to take off and run, only to find a Rodney Adams open for the first down.
Just more to like about Fields, who will see the pitch as a starter sooner rather than later. Especially if he keeps making plays like that.
