When Bears head coach Matt Nagy was asked about quarterback Andy Dalton on Monday, he said the veteran remains the No.1 quarterback as long as he’s healthy enough to play.

Dalton is ready for full practice Wednesday, but he’s no longer Chicago’s No.1 quarterback. Nagy told reporters at his press conference on Wednesday that Justin Fields will start against the Raiders this week and remain the starting quarterback going forward.

“He is grown to this point. He deserved it. He worked hard. And now he has that opportunity, ”Nagy said, via Chris Emma of 670 The Score.

It was always a question of when the first-round pick bypassed Dalton to become the team’s starter and Dalton’s knee injury allowed Fields to play more than two games to show what he could do in alignment. His first start was a nightmare, but things were better with last Sunday’s win over the Lions and the Fields will have the chance to grow up at work.
