Bears unveil classic 1936 uniforms

The helmet that accompanies the uniform is navy blue with three orange bands.

"The helmet is cool," said cornerback Kyle Fuller, who modeled the uniform Friday night at the Bears100 celebration. "I certainly did not expect it. I did not know what to expect. But see that I think it added some pop. "

The Bears will wear the classic jersey in two games this season: against the Vikings on Sunday, September 29 and against the Cowboys on Thursday night, December 5, both at Soldier Field.

McCaskey said it was difficult to choose a unique classic uniform because the Bears have made very little uniform changes over the years. But to revive the 1936 version was obvious.

"This one is really distinguished because it was only for a year," McCaskey said. "We thought it would be a good idea to bring it back and see if our fans like it. At that time, you think the uniforms are rather drab, but that's a pretty dramatic statement, especially these socks. I like socks. The socks are the uniform, in my opinion. "

McCaskey said the 1936 uniform was the one he had been targeting since the beginning of the process, and in charge of the longtime equipment, Tony Medlin.

"This is the one that Tony Medlin and I have been watching closely since the beginning," McCaskey said. "He takes his responsibilities as guardian of our uniforms very seriously, so I knew he was successful with Tony, we would be in pretty good shape."

McCaskey said his mother, Virginia Halas McCaskey, had received a request.

"She did not want that when the team would come out of the tunnel, it's not possible to be wrong about the fact that it's the Chicago Bears," McCaskey said. "So with these tips, we think we have found something good."

Fans attending the Bears100 Celebration Weekend will be able to purchase the new on-site sweaters at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Fans can also buy the jerseys online from tonight at store.chicagobears.com.

The jersey replaces the classic 1940s jersey that the Bears wore twice last year. They will also wear their orange jersey once in 2019 in addition to their classic navy and white jerseys.
