It’s free to whistle the disco melody of any Bee Gees track – but when it comes to buying a former band member’s house, it costs a lot more than just a song.
On Long Island, a seven-bedroom spread that belonged to Robin Gibb can be yours for $ 12.9 million, the listing broker told The Post.
Gibb, who died in 2012 at age 62 from cancer and surgery, owned this Lloyd Harbor home in the 1980s. The iconic ’70s band also included Gibb’s brothers Barry and Maurice, of which the latter was her fraternal twin.
The nearly 7-acre spread at 31 Mallard Drive in Lloyd Harbor is called “Kenjockety,” which, according to the Long Island Press, is a Native American term meaning “away from noise.” It appears Gibb owned it for a brief period in the 1980s – selling it to a couple named Paula and Bruce Rice in 1983. The Rices are not the current sellers.
Kenjockety dates back to 1926, when Arthur H. Fleming – a lumber farmer in the American West – built it for his daughter, Marjorie, as a wedding present. Fleming enlisted the help of architect Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, who designed Saint Bart’s Church on Park Avenue in midtown Manhattan.
The renovated Oyster Bay-front property has seven full baths and three half baths. Images in the listing show a grand staircase, beamed ceilings, wood-paneled library, fireplaces, spacious entertaining areas, and a private deep-water dock with a gazebo.
Other touches include radiant heated floors in the entrance hall, a ‘Winter Garden’ bedroom off the living room which overlooks the gardens and bay, and a master bedroom with a private balcony and a walk-in closet with built-in wardrobes. mahogany.
The grounds are also home to a renovated one-bedroom cottage with its own fireplace. Also outside: an integrated swimming pool and 500 feet of private beach.
This is not the first time the house has been on the market. Zillow shows that it was previously listed for $ 9.95 million in 2016, then increased its price to $ 12.99 million the following year. He has since spent time on and off the market.
Bonnie Williamson and Lauryn Koke of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty have this list.
