that now the demand for electricity in Uzbekistan is 69 billion kW / h. About 85% is produced by the combustion of gas and coal, the remaining 15% is produced by hydroelectric plants. To produce electricity, 16.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 86,000 tons of fuel oil and 2.3 million tons of coal are consumed.

"If we continue to use natural gas and coal, their reserves could be exhausted, it will be an unforgivable mistake and a crime for the future generation," Mirziyoyev said.

Work on the creation of nuclear energy has already begun in Uzbekistan. An agreement was reached with Rosatom State Corporation on the construction of a nuclear power plant. The complex will consist of two power units with a capacity of 1200 megawatts each. The commissioning of the first plant is planned until 2028.

The launch of the nuclear power plant will save 3.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The volume of carbon monoxide released into the atmosphere due to natural combustion will be reduced by 3 million tons per year.

At the meeting on the creation of atomic energy in the country, and practical work related to the construction and operation, ensuring the safety of the nuclear power plant.
