Irish pilots of the low-cost airline Ryanair also call for a strike on 20 and 24 July, said the IALPA pilots' union. Several pilots have already observed a strike on Thursday causing the cancellation of 30 flights out of 290. Ryanair flights from the European continent were not affected by the movement and no flights to or from Belgium were affected this Thursday. According to the union, the talks on Wednesday made it possible to progress but not to reach an agreement. This is why the new strike days have been announced. The conflict is about how pilots are spread across European bases. Staff based in four countries rallied to the strike, including in Belgium. On 25 and 26 July, crew members in Belgium, Portugal and Spain will protest, and in Italy only on 25 July. Stewards require better working conditions and want unions to be better recognized. (Belga)
