The sprinters find a favorable ground, Friday, in the 13th stage of the Tour de France which leaves the Alps to join Valence, in the valley of the Rhone.

The race, which starts from Bourg d'Oisans, returns to the plain on the 169.5 kilometer course comprising two small hills.

"We wanted to give the sprinters a smile," says race director Thierry Gouvenou, after three days in the Alps.

The finish is judged at the end of a straight line of 350 meters, near the Georges-Pompidou stadium.
