The Serbian Milorad Mazic has been appointed by FIFA to referee the quarter-finals of the World Cup football between Belgium and Russia, Friday in Kazan (20:00).
Milorad Mazic, 45, will be badisted by his compatriots Milovan Ristic and Dali Djurdjevic. Jari Marrufo of the United States has been named as the fourth official of the Seleçao and Red Devils duel.
Mazic had already officiated twice during this World Cup at the third pool meet (H) between Senegal and Colombia (0-1), as well as on the second day of Group F between South Korea and Mexico (1-2).
He also led the Red Devils twice, during qualifying for the Euro against Kazakhstan (4-1) in 2011 and the eighth finals of the Euro in France two years ago against Hungary (win 4-0). He refereed the final of the Champions League between Real Madrid and Liverpool (3-1) this season. Last year, he led the final of the Confederations Cup between Germany and Chile (1-0).
The other quarter-final on Friday, between France and Uruguay will be led by the Argentine Nestor Pitana.
Saturday, Sweden / England was placed in the hands of the Dutchman Bjorn Kupers while Russia / Croatia will be refereed by the Brazilian Sandro Ricci.
