We knew that the beta was called Android P but we did not know yet what dessert that P was the initial. And unfortunately for Google, it seems that the manufacturer Huawei has dropped the song.
P as Pistachio. The Bloomberg magazine was talking about it a few months ago, revealing that internally, the OS bore the sweet name of Pistachio Ice Cream. A pistachio ice cream, which succeeds a whole bunch of desserts:
- Android 2.3.3 – 2.3.7: Android Gingerbread
- Android 4.0.3 – 4.0.4: Android Ice Cream Sandwich
- Android 4.1 – 4.3: Android Jelly Bean
- Android 4.4: Android KitKat
- Android 5.0 – 5.1: Android Lollipop
- Android 6.0: Android Marshmallow
- Android 7.0 – 7.1: Android Nougat
- Android 8.0 – 8.1 : Android Oreo
The information would have leaked from the side of Huawei Poland. According to Phone Arena, the manufacturer would have dropped the song by answering questions about the update of its range of smartphones. However, nothing is done. The name could very well change by the final version. And according to the first feedback from users, Google would do better to change its name, it does not seem to appeal too much to users.
