The Irish airline Ryanair can take over the Austrian airline LaudaMotion, announced Thursday the European Commission. No conditions were issued. The Commission's investigation concludes that Ryanair's majority stake in LaudaMotion is not expected to have a negative impact on pbadengers and that sufficient competition remains. With this agreement announced earlier this year, the Irish low-cost airline wants to expand into the German and Austrian markets. LaudaMotion, which until recently was called Niki, offers holiday flights from these two countries. The Vienna-based company, created by former Formula 1 world champion Niki Lauda, had become a subsidiary of Air Berlin. The latter had, however, been declared bankrupt last year and the majority of its badets taken over by Lufthansa. Niki Lauda was finally allowed to take over the business he had created. He had bought Niki at the beginning of the year for 47 million euros. (Belga)
