Rolls Royce adds his name to the list of automobile or aeronautic manufacturers who wish to manufacture flying taxis . The luxury car manufacturer intends to create an EVTOL (Vertical Landing and Takeoff Electric Aircraft).
The manufacturer, best known for its luxury automobiles, has introduced an EVTOL concept at the Farnborough International Airshow 2018 which started today. According to Rolls Royce, the vehicle will be able to transport up to five pbadengers to a distance of 800 km at 400 km / h . However, the device will not be entirely electric, since the electricity used by the six propellers will come from a battery filled by a gas turbine. According to the manufacturer, this hybrid approach can improve speed and efficiency, because there will be no need to recharge the electric batteries. The wings of the aircraft will be able to rotate 90 degrees which will allow it to take off or land vertically. They will be able to retreat once the boat has reached cruising heights, which should reduce noise in the cabin.
