The South Korean manufacturer could unveil its connected speaker August 9, at the event Unpacked, which will also be presented the Galaxy Note 9.
It was known that Samsung was working on a connected speaker, but knowing that Bixby, the smart badistant of the brand, is not the most advanced on the market (it is often worse than Siri), it was not expected that the speaker is presented so early. According to Wall Street Journal information, the speaker would be wider at the base than on the top, with feet and some lights on the top.
Just as Apple, who can not really highlight the prowess of Siri, it is the quality of sound that will be the main badet of the cabinet. The "smart" features would only be a bonus, and would make it possible to use simple controls for music or to control other objects connected to the SmartThings ecosystem, a sort of competitor to Apple's HomeKit platform (which allows to control including connected lamps). The speaker would also be able to modulate the sound and project it towards the person who dictates the controls.
Remains the question of the price, announced at 300 dollars. That's $ 50 less than the HomePod, and $ 100 less than the Google Home Max (which benefits from the Google Assistant, but offers a lower sound quality than the HomePod), but $ 100 more than the Amazon Echo, which continues to sell like hotcakes. We will know more on August 9, if Samsung confirms the information of the Wall Street Journal. And if the sound is so incredible that it justifies the limits of Bixby.
