The technical problems that occurred Thursday afternoon are resolved, says Belgocontrol, in charge of Belgian air traffic control. Air traffic therefore partially resumed at 5.30 pm when it had been interrupted shortly after 16.00 due to a problem in the loading of flight data. The European organization for the safety of air navigation Eurocontrol had first announced via Twitter that the traffic would only be at 19:00 but it is already the case, says Belgocontrol.

"The problem we had with the Loading flight data has now been resolved, "said spokesman Dominique Dehaene. "The data is available again and air traffic will resume gradually, and we think it will take another two to three hours for the situation to be back to normal."

The technical problem led to the closure of Belgian airspace shortly after 16.00. The "clear the sky" measure had been operated and no aircraft could fly below 7,500 meters. Take-offs and landings were therefore impossible.

Belgocontrol does not yet know the precise cause of this technical incident.

Brussels Airport expects all problems to be fully resolved on Friday morning. It is possible that pbadengers still have to spend the night from Thursday to Friday at the airport.
