The animal as a fragile being

As a result of the entry into force of the 12 chapters and 109 articles which constitute this code of which the first article establishes "the animal as a fragile being", it will now be required, obtaining a license to hold an animal. Abandonment, neglect and abuse will also be prohibited. Subject to the adoption of the text by the Parliament of Wallonia, the most serious cases of abuse will be recorded as a criminal act .

In addition, it will also be prohibited to organize fights or drills. animal shooting. Also, kermesse racetracks will be banned.

Finally, animal abuse will be severely punished in Wallonia, the criminal nature of the facts may be retained for the most serious cases of abuse. The text must still be submitted to the vote of the Parliament of Wallonia before its entry into force.

With this, the identification and registration of dogs and cats will be mandatory and the cost will be donated to a Protection Fund against abandonment and animal abuse to benefit shelters.
