American DJ Steve Aoki was the last artist to appear on the main stage of the Tomorrowland festival on Friday night, as did DJ Tiësto on one of the other 17 podiums on the Boom Plain. Earlier in the day Bonzai All Stars, Netsky and Hardwell also gave the best of themselves to audiences from around the world. The singer and rapper from Antwerp Coely was on stage for the first time at Tomorrowland on Friday, freshly gratified with a gold record for his album "Different Waters". She was one of the few hip-hop artists present during the first day of the festival, mainly dedicated to electronic music and dance. Radio Studio Brussel organized a tribute to Swedish dj Avicii, who died in April this year. A duo of violinist and cellist has taken over the hit "Wake Me Up" of the missing artist. The Swedes Axwell and Ingrosso also offered a cover of the same issue in tribute to their compatriot. Festivalgoers were able to enjoy a warm day on Friday for the first day of Tomorrowland. The aid services and the Flemish Cross have had a relatively calm day. "We mainly faced stomach pain," says Kevin Beens on behalf of this organization. Participants of the event are advised to hydrate in the next few days while the temperatures will remain high. Although the country is experiencing an episode of drought, the traditional fireworks will take place. The security services monitor the situation until the last moment to give the last final green light. (Belga)
