In Morocco, a macho campaign asks men to dress their wives

Born on the initiative of a conservative Facebook page, the hashtag #Kounrajoulan ( #Soisunhomme ) has been circulating for several days on Moroccan social networks. A misogynist and macho slogan that calls men to "cover their wives" – whether they are wives, daughters or sisters – and that has caused an uproar.

It all started on July 9, when the administrator of the page "The national campaign to demand a real Islamic bank in Morocco", followed by 170,000 people, wrote: "Be a man and do not let your women and girls go out in tight clothes." While Moroccan beaches are now crowded, the message was also addressed to women in bathing suits on the beaches.

The message was shared by thousands of people, often accompanied by images or verses from the Qur'an. The call – which is addressed to the men and not the first concerned, the women – has nevertheless also quickly triggered the indignation.

"Those who launched #Soisunhomme are they themselves men when they reduce the woman to a simple object of desire and fantasy? ", so reacted @citoyen_hmdia. @jsca_d has said that "being a man means putting your wife above you."
