US President Donald Trump said Monday he had "nothing to do" with Vladimir Putin at their summit in Helsinki last week after the outcry provoked by his attitude deemed too conciliatory with the Russian president.

"When you hear the + fake news + criticize my meeting with President Putin, and all that I let go, remember, I did NOT give up, we just talked about the future benefits for our two countries", badured Mr. Trump on Twitter.

"Also, we got along very well, which is a good thing except for the corrupt media," he added.

At the conference press after their meeting in Finland last Monday, the White House tenant had appeared to exonerate Russia from charges of interference in the election that brought him to power in 2016, questioning intelligence badessments US.

"I see no reason why it would be Russia (who would have interfered in the election)," he said, before having to admit a slip of the tongue a few days later, faced with the outcry created in his own political camp.

He also described as "interesting" Putin's proposal to let American justice question 12 Russian intelligence agents indicted in the United States for interference in the presidential election. But the Kremlin master had demanded a "reciprocity", in this case that the Russian justice can question 11 Americans, including the former US Ambbadador (2012-2014) Michael McFaul.

The latter immediately called on the White House to "categorically denounce this ridiculous request of Putin."
