American actress and pop singer Demi Lovato was hospitalized Tuesday in Los Angeles after what appears to be an overdose, media reports said.

A Los Angeles fire department spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that a 25-year-old woman had been transported from her home, to an address that corresponds to that of Demi Lovato, to a hospital but without revealing her identity or giving details of her condition.

The news website on TMZ celebrities, citing police sources, said the actress had received Narcan, an emergency treatment for overdoses.

People magazine, for its part, quoted an anonymous source close to the singer according to which she was in a stable state

Contacted by AFP, a representative of Demi Lovato could not be reached immediately
