The Chinese authorities finally denied the social network a license that had originally been granted.
This is probably the shortest project in Facebook's history: twenty-four hours after Reuters revealed that Facebook had obtained a license to open a subsidiary in mainland China, Beijing withdrew this authorization.
The subsidiary was to be located in Hangzhou, the city that houses the headquarters of the large group of e-commerce Chinese Alibaba. Its main mission was to work on technological innovation. The social network had obtained the necessary authorizations from the local authorities, but the central organ of Internet control in China invalidated, Wednesday, July 25, the agreement it had obtained.

Other US news companies technologies have opened similar subsidiaries in China, while their main services are prohibited. This is the case of Google, which opened a research and development center dedicated to artificial intelligence.
