Audi announced that it will take orders in the United States for its all-new electric e-tron SUV, starting in September. This is the first all-electric model of the German brand.

Presented as a prototype at the last Geneva Motor Show in March, the model will be unveiled at the world premiere in San Francisco on September 17, and from this date US buyers will be able to book their vehicle within Audi.

The Audi e-tron is a premium sports SUV that can accommodate five adults and all their luggage, at the same level as conventional Audi SUV's. the same category. Designed to be recharged on fast charging stations in as little as 30 minutes, the e-tron features a high-voltage drive system that fully integrates the driving dynamics of the automaker's combustion engine models. The autonomy will depend on one of the three battery options that Audi will make available to the buyers, but it is rumored that the e-tron will be able to travel more than 500 km.

Audi introduces a new reservation and support system so that consumers can make the transition to electric mobility in a simple and worry-free way. For example, according to the company, once consumers have placed their order, they will be able to track it online and at their dealership (Audi has a network of 300 dealer-partners in America). Audi promises to share more details about this system and other services offered to US customers during the unveiling in San Francisco.

"We introduce a high quality, customer-focused vehicle in a way that keeps the needs of the customer at heart. With our owners and our dealers, this process allows us to ensure great transparency from the moment of booking, until the vehicle is delivered to the customer.

– Scott Keogh, President, Audi of America

The first e-tron is expected to be delivered to dealerships early in 2019. The e-tron will be the first of three electric vehicles from Audi by 2020; the company estimates that nearly 30% of its customers in the United States will buy electric vehicles in 2025.

We have no confirmation regarding a date of reservation or marketing of the e-tron in Canada . It is difficult to imagine, however, that this model is not found in this market in the very near future, given the popularity here of small vehicles and electric cars. In any case, the Audi Canada website contains a page devoted to the prototype.

Of course, we will keep you informed!
