The BWM M Performance Parts Concept presented at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed 2018 is a lighter M2 weighing more than 60kg thanks to a complete range of M Performance accessories. Some are already available; others will soon be launched as carbon fiber body parts.
This braided fiber is thus used for the radiator grille, the bonnet (-8kg), the front fenders (-3kg), the fins of the shield front and side sills, the roof (-6kg), the trunk (-5kg) and the diffuser (-0,5kg). The car is based on new forged wheels of 17 inches (-6kg).
Relief at all levels
The regime continues in the cabin with carbon front seats (-9kg), rear seats lightweight (-13kg) and upholstery in alcantara. In addition, a lighter battery alone can win 14kg according to BMW. All these developments make it possible both to gain weight, to lower the center of gravity, to improve the aerodynamics of reducing the unsprung mbades. The coupé is equipped with adjustable and lowered M Performance suspension.
To highlight these novelties, BMW has adorned this concept car with a matte gray color contrasted by the matte gold rims. Golden accents are found on the grille, flanks, trunk, rocker panels or upholstery. The new M Performance options will be marketed progressively by March 2019. The gain in dynamism should be noticeable on a fully-equipped copy, just like the extra cost on the bill.
