Ajax Amsterdam is getting closer to a duel against Standard. The Dutch football club won 2-0 against Austria's Sturm Graz on Wednesday in the second leg of the first leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

Ajax Amsterdam opened the scoring on a shot from Hakim Ziyech that looked innocuous but failed to capture Jorg Siebenhandl, Austrian goalkeeper (1-0, 15th). In the second half, Dane Lbade Schone doubled the lead of his team on a penalty in two stages (2-0, 57th). The winner of this double challenge will challenge Standard Liege in the third qualifying round.

The shock of the night, between Celtic Glasgow and Rosenborg, turned to the advantage of the Scots (3-1). However, it is the Norwegians who, through Birger Meling (16th), opened the scoring. The 'Bhoys' then reversed the trend thanks to the French Odsonne Edouard (43rd, 75th) and Olivier Ntcham (46th).

The return matches of this second round will take place on Tuesday, July 31st and Wednesday, August 1st, then another Qualifying lap will be required to access the dams. At the end of these, six teams will be qualified for the phase of the pools of the C1.
