The murderer of 22-year-old Laeticia Bauwens will attempt to overturn the judgments of the Assize Court of Hainault on both the guilt and the sentence

The defense of Cédric Maton (33), the murderer of Laeticia Bauwens, sentenced last week to life imprisonment and 15 years of imprisonment, decided to appeal to the Supreme Court. The highest court in the country could break or not the decisions made by the Assize Court of Hainaut. The appeal was signed on Monday, says the RTBF. A statement of motivation must be made.

Binchoise student Laetitia Bauwens, 22, was killed in the parking lot of the exhibition hall in Mons on April 22, 2017, in the early hours of the morning, on a Saturday. In the space of 3 minutes, she was stabbed 40 to 50 times by Cédric Maton while she was in her vehicle, parked in the parking lot.

Guilty of attempted robbery with weapon, violence and murder, attempted rape and indecent badault with aggravating circumstances, Cédric Maton, drug addict, is "a killing machine", "a determined predator", "one of the most bloodthirsty murderers this court has known", insisted lawyers of Laeticia's parents as well as the public prosecutor. No mitigating circumstance was granted to him

With this appeal, Cédric Maton's defense is directed against the two decisions of the Assize Court: that on guilt and that on sentence. Once the memorandum is justified and filed, a decision of the court of cbadation would be possible after the school holidays.
