The Ghent festivities (Gentse Feesten) were held Saturday night without significant incidents. Some 150,000 people have joined the center of the Flemish city for this second day of festivities. The authorities, however, reported the presence of counterfeit banknotes of EUR 20.
The second day of the Ghent festivities was again smooth. " We counted 150,000 visitors ," says the holiday alderman Christophe Peeters (Open VLD). " This is as much as for the second day last year ."
Several witnesses, however, reported the presence of counterfeit notes of 20 euros. " People who bring their own money, it's an annual phenomenon. We call for the vigilance of all the organizers "responded Peeters.
Some 18,500 football fans also watched the Belgium-England match on Saturday afternoon for third place at the World Cup.
