It's been a few years now (since The Tree of Life, at least) that Terrence Malick's cinema has taken a mystical turn -toc clean to discourage up to his most fervent aficionados. This statement, Voyage of Time marks a resurgence of sensitive form in the head of the American filmmaker, and this, no doubt, because by adopting the documentary form, he offloads his intention of a part of the emphasis on making it particularly indigestible.
