Despite the intervention of the relief workers, the 50-year-old died on the spot. The race was interrupted momentarily before resuming his rights. Warned the facts, the prosecutor's office of Charleroi did not go there. The circumstances are in fact pure accident in a competition that is obviously not safe.

In 2014, moreover, three bikers had lost their lives during the Open Trophy. In addition to the death of a German driver, Vic De Coormeter and Julien Paquet had also killed themselves. The death of the latter had also sparked controversy since it evoked the possibility that a spectator hit him in the middle of the race.
