F1 2018: the career news in detail! | Xbox One

Codemasters unveils today the first episode of a series of four developers' diaries for F1 2018. This first video is the opportunity to discover Claire, a protagonist who will help the player to make the front page of the media on circuits and outside. We also learn that the interviews will make their comeback and that everything has been done to make the player feel as immersed as possible in the heart of F1.

This new developer's notebook explains how your interactions with Claire, the journalist who makes its appearance in F1 2018, will affect your reputation and have an impact on your career. Will you be provocative or on the contrary the friend of all? Your answers may affect the motivation of different departments of your own team, change the price or reliability of the improvements, but also the proposals that will be made by the other teams.

"The media will play an important role in the player's career, "says 2018 F1 Game Director Lee Mather. "A driver can not just be good on a circuit. You have to be much more versatile. The player will have to think about the impact of his answers, not only on the morale of his team – to avoid a demotivation, that the price or the duration of installation of certain improvements increase or that they are less reliable … – but also on what other teams will think.

"Some teams want drivers who are also gentlemen: friendly in front of the press, who can keep a cool head and say nothing bad about anyone, even under pressure; others are looking for "character" pilots to provide the show. "

As your reputation improves in F1 2018, you'll have access to more answers. The interviews will take place in new locations, whether in the paddocks, in front of the team or in the supervised areas.

Career mode is enriched by other improvements. You will now have more control over your future, and you will be able to approach the rival stables for a possible transfer, including during the season. And you can also choose your personal rival for the championship.

More information on Career Mode improvements will be unveiled in the second episode of the developer's notebooks.

F1 2018 will be available on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and Xbox One X, as well as on PC all over the world as of Friday, August 24, 2018. The game presents all the official teams and stables, as well as the 21 circuits of the 2018 season, including the return this year of the Grand Prix de France and Germany: you will be able to drive on the Paul Ricard circuit and the Hockenheimring.
