If Flanders obtains the organization of the 2021 World Championships in cycling, the online event will start from Antwerp and arrive in Leuven. This was announced Friday the Flemish Minister of Sport Philippe Muyters (N-VA) on the occasion of the presentation of the candidacy of Flanders to the organization of the event. The individual time trial will have Knokke-Heist and Bruges as places of departure and arrival.

2021 is a symbolic date for cycling. The first amateur world championship was held in 1921 in Copenhagen. The Flemish candidacy will be defended on 20 July at the International Cycling Union (UCI). The latter will decide in September when the Worlds will be held.

The 2021 World Championships will be held from September 18 to 26.

The World Cycling Championships were held for the last time in Belgium in 2002 in Zolder. 19659005] Newsletter sport
