A new concentrate: the 17th stage of the Tour de France is reduced to 65 kilometers, but includes three climbs. " A fool's trick ", smiles the race director Thierry Gouvenou who emphasizes the novelty of F1 starting. The riders will be positioned according to their place in the overall clbadification.

From the first kilometer begins the rise of Peyresourde which extends to the station of Peyragudes (14.9 km to 6.7%). Before the descent to Loudenvielle and the link with another pbad of the first category, Azet-Val Louron (7.4 km at 8.3%).

Without a flat portion at the end of the descent, the race attacks then the hardest, the Col du Portet, an unprecedented climb clbadified out of category that the predecessors of the organizers had considered climbing some forty years ago.

" This pbad is probably what is more difficult in France with the Ventoux ", believes Thierry Gouvenou. The 16 kilometers to 8.7% lead to the altitude of 2215 meters, 100 meters higher than the Tourmalet which the director of the Tour Christian Prudhomme compares the Portet.

The first part of the climb takes the road to Pla 'Adet. Then, the Tour approaches the unknown on a tar posed recently, in a natural circus acting stadium.

" For spectators who will walk, bike, but certainly not by car since there will be no access possible on the last eight kilometers, it will be an ideal moment.All is open to see the runners for ten minutes ", announces Christian Prudhomme.

Departure from Bagnères-de-Luchon at 3:15 pm, arriving at the Col du Portet around 17:32 (forecast at 28 km / h average).
