A 32-year-old accused was sentenced to 40 months in prison on Monday in the Charleroi Criminal Court.
On April 3, Cédric L.'s wife refused to allow him to enter her home. in view of its condition. He insisted and she called the police. In the meantime, the defendant had fired at a crate containing newspapers and placed at the bottom of a wooden staircase leading to several apartments.

Me Brocca, counsel for the accused, did not dispute the materiality of the facts. He conceded that when he was arrested, Cédric L. was a real wreck but that he had since then taken steps to cure his various dependencies. At the end of his argument, Mr. Brocca applied for an independent probation sentence.
However, the court noted the gravity of the events that could have had tragic consequences in sentencing the accused to 40 months in prison.
