HTC will launch its blockchain smartphone this year

The HTC Exodus smartphone dedicated to the blockchain will be launched in the third quarter of 2018. The Taiwanese company counts on this model to revive the smartphone market.

HTC had evoked last May the Exodus, a mysterious smartphone dedicated to the blockchain and the crytomonnaies. A few weeks later, the Taiwanese manufacturer confirms that its mobile will arrive on the market in the third quarter of 2018 with a heavy load on the shoulders. The Taiwanese manufacturer wants indeed "precursor of a movement" which will give access to "first major blockchain phone of the world" . He must also relaunch a company in trouble in the smartphone market that is about to lay off nearly a quarter of its workforce.

The characteristics of his new smartphone are not still known, but HTC announces that the Exodus incorporates a "very secure digital wallet" . The latter will be used to store cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum …). Blockchain technology is not limited to virtual currencies, the manufacturer has decided to form partnerships with several companies and entrust the project to Phil Chen, known for being behind the Vive virtual reality headset. HTC has partnered with CryptoKitties – one of the first blockchain-based video games – to be the first to distribute it on mobile. The game will not be reserved for the Exodus, it will be available on the U12 + and other devices of the Taiwanese brand. This merger will also mark the launch of a "App Store crypto-gaming" explains the manufacturer. He adds that he also badociated with Animoca and Bitmark "to accelerate the construction and distribution of exclusive digital products from blockchain creations" .
