Two years after the tragedy of the Promenade des Anglais, a ceremony was held in the presence of Prime Minister Edouard Philippe
Two years already. On Saturday, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe participated in the tribute to the 86 victims of the attack in Nice, occurred the evening of July 14, 2016, but also wanted to sketch other perspectives.
In his address, the head of government wished to badociate the memory of the victims of the Nice attack with those of other attacks since then, and recalled the project of creating "a judge of the compensation of the victims of 'Terrorist acts which will have national competence' announced the day before.
86 beams in the night, in memory of the 86 victims
A call for projects for the creation of a national center of resources and resilience must also be launched "within a few days". This body must develop "a multidisciplinary and transversal approach to psycho-traumatism". Representatives of the victims' badociations also shared their feelings, and called for the creation of a memorial and research center in Nice.
In the morning, an inter-religious ceremony was held at the Mbadena, on the Promenade des Anglais, before the relatives place a white rose at the foot of the temporary memorial installed in the gardens of this museum.
Before the ceremony, the Prime Minister had attended the military parade of 14-July, and met in town hall, behind closed doors, about forty families, with the mayor LR Christian Estrosi.
The day tribute was to be extended in the evening by a concert by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra and singer Patrick Fiori, followed by a release of 86 balloons and the illumination of as many beams on the Promenade des Anglais.
Two instructions always in course
According to the latest balance sheet provided by the Guarantee Fund which compensates the victims, the attack of 14 July 2016, in addition to the 86 people killed, 206 wounded and 1,360 traumatized people. At the end of the fireworks display by a Tunisian living in Nice, Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, shot dead during the attack, the attack was claimed by the Islamic State group.
