E n 2015, Belgium has an "energy transition fund". An idea of the federal government, led by the Minister of Energy Marie-Christine Marghem (MR). This fund is fed each year by the 20 million nuclear tax paid by Electrabel, in return for the extension of Doel 1 and Doel 2.
Its purpose? Finance "research and development in innovative projects in the field of energy and in particular to develop the production and storage of energy" . This is in any case what appears in the explanatory memorandum, annexed to the bill pbaded in 2015.
