She wanted to pay tribute to Brel and do something similar to him.

For Maurane, this album represented a lot: it was his return after the serious voice problems that had deeply affected him two years ago, requiring an operation of vocal cords to treat edema. She had gradually regained the urge to sing and was heavily involved in this project of covers of the Brel repertoire, with even a tour scheduled in 2019. The day before her death, she went back on stage in Brussels, where she told herself happy to have finally found his voice.
