New coach for Courtois and Hazard. He succeeds Antonio Conte.
Chelsea announced Saturday the name of his new coach Maurizio Sarri, the day after the announcement of his separation with Antonio Conte.
Conte is replaced by a compatriot, the former coach of Naples Maurizio Sarri. The situation was paradoxical in Chelsea: Conte led since Monday the preparation of the 'Blues' while there remained one year of contract with the club London, while Sarri was still officially under contract with Napoli, where he was replaced by Carlo Ancelotti
On Friday, Chelsea announced it had split from Conte. In appointing Sarri, the English club continues its tradition of Italian coaches: the former mentor of Dries Mertens will be the sixth transalpine coach of the Blues, after Gianluca Vialli (1998-200), Claudio Ranieri (2000-2004), Carlo Ancelotti (2009 -2011), Roberto Di Matteo (2012) and Conte
Sarri, 59, has climbed the ladder of Italian football. He coached in fifth, fourth and third division of the Italian league before coming to Serie B, Pescara, in 2005. He then directed Arezzo, Avellino, Hellas Verona, Perugia, Grossetto, Alexandria, and Sorrento . In 2012, Sarri took the helm of Empoli, where he was revealed to the general public. He brought the club back to Serie A in 2014 and finished 15th in Serie A the following season, impressing the observers for Empoli's spectacular game
which earned him the title of Napoli. With the 'Partonepei' he fights twice for the Scudetto, in 2016 and 2018, but finally fails in 2nd place behind Juventus. The Naples de Sarri is distinguished by an offensive game. He notably turned Dries Mertens into "false 9".
