MGM group suing 1,000 victims of Las Vegas massacre and scandal

(Belga) MGM Resorts, owner of the hotel from which the author of the Las Vegas mbadacre was fired last year, was scandalous in the United States after filing a lawsuit against 1,000 victims of the most murderous in the recent history of the United States.

On October 1, a 64-year-old American opened fire on the public at an outdoor concert, killing 58 people and injuring about 800. The gunman was removed from a room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, where he had set up an arsenal, and committed suicide by returning his gun to him before the police arrived. Some 2,500 people – including survivors and families of victims – have sued or say they want to sue the hotel group for negligence. MGM Resorts responded with a lawsuit filed Friday in Nevada and in the Los Angeles federal court, demanding that the case be dropped. Saying to rely on a federal law (the "Safety Act"), the group claims not to be legally liable for the attack because, with the organizer of the concert Live Nation, he entrusted the security of the event to the company CSC, certified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
