É viter administrative burdens to benefit from energy premiums and renovation, this is the second phase of the facelift proposed by the Walloon Ministers of Energy Jean-Luc Crucke and Housing Valérie De Bue after the increase in the amount of aid. The new regime, presented Friday in Namur, provides a single point of contact for individuals wishing to offer a small boost to their homes with the help of the regional government.
A one-stop shop
In 2019, the Walloon people should no longer get lost in the meanders of their administration to try to get here, energy bonuses, there, aids to the renovation of their homes. This is at least the objective pursued by the proposal for a "one-stop-shop" launched jointly by the Walloon Ministers of Energy and Housing and approved by the government.
In practice, citizens will no longer to a single contact once their premium application has been submitted. The audit expert will evaluate the work to be undertaken and will establish a chronological order in which the work will be carried out. If individuals will not be required to undertake all the work pointed out, they will not be able to derogate from this list if they want to benefit from bonuses allocated.
"To isolate the roof of a house that threatens to collapse has no sense indeed", underline the ministers in a statement. Insulation aids did not take into account the state of stability of housing, for example. The aim is therefore to obtain an overview of the works in order to guarantee an optimal use of the money invested by the Region and the citizen.
Premium increase
This measure complements an increase in the amount of premiums already applied since March. To insulate his roof, a Walloon now receives 2,250 euros instead of the 500 euros initially offered. The bonus for the installation of a biombad boiler was more than doubled: from 800 euros to 1,750 euros
enough to revive the interest of citizens. The previous warnings (the first step of a premium request) received have thus gone from 4,236 for the period between March and June 2017, to 9,457 for the same period in 2018.
By making the amounts more attractive and the simpler procedure, the government hopes to revalue premiums that appealed only moderately to the general public. In 2017, only 57% of the available budget had actually been used.
