No sooner does one put the cursor on the button "New part" than the magic of the Martian atmosphere operates again. This is exactly the same game, here playable in 1080p / 1440p on consoles at 60 frames per second with native support of 4K (at 30 fps on the other hand) on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. The Geo-Mod 2.0 was already a little revolution at the time, but is even more enjoyable to discover with such fluidity. It has never been so enjoyable to crush the cranial boxes of EDF soldiers with clubs or wait patiently for a five-meter silo to collapse on poor civilians. Not a single slowdown to deplore in the first hours of the single-player campaign as multiplayer: it will be necessary to do the mariole with the singular bombs and more mbadive structures to begin to see the fps counter pbad below the 60, but the common mortals will not reveal anything disturbing. What is a little more, it is the strange bug of spatialization of the sound which causes the disappearance of certain soundings generated outside the field of vision of the player. We hope to see this concern patched very soon, history that the replicas of the characters do not cut suddenly when you turn the camera.

If we dwell a little more on the quality of the rendering, we note some improvements that are difficult to perceive but very present. Already, we can see by comparing screenshots of the two games that the effect of grain a little drooling of the original version has been significantly reduced. The resolution of the textures being higher, the materials also have a credible look than before. Still dependent on the 3D models of the time, metal surfaces, rocks, characters and vehicles look better, which would almost tend to make us forget the age of Mason. It is the soil which is entitled to the most important facelift thanks to a texture simulating the tesselation and the reflections of the light, whose seams however become a little too present during the sequences of night. Looking up, we can also realize that the skybox was also entitled to his brushstroke, allowing even more variety in color tints. It is however rather regrettable to note that this version Re-Mars-Tered was primarily thought for the home consoles, since it does not offer a parameter menu too thin on PC. We can easily afford to push the knobs to a maximum on a modest machine but it will learn to live with a aliasing that it is impossible to disable.

The other good news is that this version Re-Mars-Tered embarks with it the many updates operated by THQ Nordic these last years on Steam. It also benefits from some games that were not present in the original game as a customizable FOV, a handful of new cards for multiplayer, a matchmaking much easier to access and the famous Reconstructor, useful to revive previously destroyed buildings. Unfortunately, the content may be a little more generous than at the time, the players do not jostle on the servers. It is currently impossible to find enough partners to try the cool multiplayer mode and its idiotic game modes. If you plan to take the plunge, it will probably be necessary to meet your crew in advance.
