It was around 6:45 pm, Tuesday night, when Marie returned home, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. On the way, boulevard de la Villette, a man does not let go: moved gestures, obscene noises, hisses. Excited, the 22-year-old responds and insults her. "No luck, it was not the first day and I was tired, so I dropped a 'hangover', tracing my path," she said in a Facebook post.
"I refused to be demeaned." At Parisien Marie clarified that she did not think that the man had heard it. He pursues her and grabs an ashtray on the table of the terrace of a cafe in the rue Burnouf and throws it on the young woman. Mary insults her: "I had hate, I refused to be demeaned, it was humiliating". That's when the man approaches. "I refused to look down, I looked right in the eyes, I was not going to apologize," she said indignantly.
"It has twisted in seconds." The man hits her in the face. In Parisian Marie explains having the brow bone and the swollen cheekbone. "I was in pain, it was so twisted in a few seconds, I did not realize it right away". While the harbader resumes his journey, customers intercept him. "He was screaming," recalls Marie. Shocked, the young woman goes home and returns twenty minutes later on the terrace of the cafe. "People flocked, to support me, to calm me down and tell me they could testify," recalls Marie.
The owner of the bistro gave him the video of the terrace. The young woman, grateful to the customers of the coffee, was prescribed a day of ITT (total interruption of work). The owner of the bistro spontaneously gave him the video and took him to file a complaint. "I am very lucky to have been able to recover the video, it is a good tool for the fight of women", she admits. "The problem is the systematic insecurity men have on women, some men think the street belongs to them and we have nothing to do with it."
