This Monday afternoon, a fire broke out in wheat fields in Namur. It is a field along the road from Louvain-la-Neuve to Suarlée, near the roundabout and the buildings of the company Carlier Bois.

The situation is very impressive since the smoke is visible to kilometers to the round. In addition, the fields being very dry, the flames progress very quickly. There would be miles of fields already burned. At least two farms would be affected. There would be no wounded.

According to Francoise, neighbor of the exploitation from where the fire started, the causes would be the drought and the still hot engine of a harvester stopped. The operator was able to take the machine out of the flames but the vehicle fell into a ditch. At first, the farmer escaped unscathed.

Police and firefighters are present in large numbers on the scene. The police also closed the road roundabout to Floreffe, as the flames are moving in this direction.
