Snapchat will terminate its Snapcash payment service

The use of the service for erotic content could be one of the causes of the end of Snapcash

Snapchat announced in November 2014 a partnership with the mobile payment service Square to allow users to exchange money via the app. This feature was developed for users who are over the age of 18 and a debit card.

The Tech Crunch site realized that an end-of-service date was hidden in the app's code. Snapchat confirmed the news, explaining that users would soon be notified via the app.

" Snapcash was the first product created in partnership with another company. We thank all the users who have been using Snapcash during these four years and for our partnership with Square "said the spokesman for the company.

However, we do not know why Snapchat decided to end in service, but it could be because of the many users who use Snapcash for the payment of erotic content. Many Internet users sell photos and videos and are paid via Snapcash.

It's also possible that Snapchat simply decided to end Snapcash because the competition is too big. Google Pay, Venmo, Apple Pay Cash and other mobile payment applications leave little room for smaller players like Snapcash.
