Some 10,000 people expected at "Medieval Citadel" this weekend in Namur

The 11th edition of " Medieval of the Citadel " will take place Saturday and Sunday in Namur. This event is one of the biggest medieval festivals in Europe. The organizers announce the presence of 500 artists and reenactors from many countries. In addition to a village of yesteryear and many events, there are some 40 shows that will be presented to the expected 10,000 visitors. The theme put forward this year is the " Unusual Middle Ages ", Wallonia wishing to present itself as a surprising destination.

Organized every first weekend of July every two years, the " Medieval of the Citadel "are known in Belgium and throughout Europe for the quality of their programming and the exceptional character of the place that hosts them, namely the Citadel of Namur.

S spread over seven hectares, the site will be divided into two large areas. On one side, a reconstitution of a village of XIII and XIVth centuries, with multiple animations and representations " with open sky " for young and old. On the other, an area dedicated to equestrian shows, which is the great novelty of this 11th edition and should give the event a character more " unusual " than ever. Two major companies in the field are on the program: the Ecuyers of History and Crow Prod & Co.

Thousands of expected visitors will also be able to stroll on the craftsmen's market where objects and period restoration will be proposed. , while storytellers, musicians, actors and acrobats will animate the whole route.

The site will be open all weekend from 11h to 20h. The Citad'in, tourist train of the city, will shuttle since the Walloon Parliament. The Citadelle Animation Committee, the main organizer of the event, specifies that a helpline and joëlettes will be offered free of charge to people with reduced mobility.
