This vestige of the Second World War can no longer be destroyed or transformed.

The idea of a backup of this site that occupies a rectangle 35 meters long and 5 meters wide dates back to the end of 2014 when the City of Brussels had considered building a car park under the Place du Balle . Neighborhood and heritage badociations were stepping up to prevent the project. Grouped under the Marolles Platform, they had notably recalled the existence of this anti-aircraft shelter and claimed its clbadification by way of petition.

The ranking contradicts the first statements of some officials of the City of Brussels including the alderman of Public Works Els Ampe (Open VLD). In 2014, it stated that the shelter had no heritage value.
